Clannad/ Clannad: After Story

Clannad and it’s sequel After Story are centered around a delinquent and how he falls in love with a girl and what happens after that.

The story has brilliant progression and each and every episode has been well thought out. The romance is very nicely displayed and if you like anime with stories centered on blooming relationships, this is the one you should, at least, give a try.

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is my favorite in the list. The story progression is fantastic and so is the OST that accompany it.

This anime has a certain charm to it that just makes it irresistible. I even wrote a review on it stating how brilliant anime it really was. Review

Kimi ni Todoke

Kimi ni Todoke is a very slow paced romance. The story progresses slowly, but you certainly don’t feel like it.¬†Kimi ni Todoke has 2 seasons and a huge variety of characters that keep the anime fresh and interesting.

Lovely Complex

Lovely Complex is a RomCom and thus is shrugged off by most, but given sufficient time this anime has one of the best romances out there. Also, the Kansai dialect is pretty good to hear for a change.

Nodame Cantabile

Nodame Cantabile and it’s sequels are more of a musical than a romance anime. Cantabile is funny and sometimes has brilliant music based on concert scores written by famous people. The romance might feel like a small thing in this anime, but it is still worth a watch.

Oregairu

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. or for short Oregairu is a RomCom that uses satirical comedy. This anime has a really interesting plot which is accompanied by some nicely written lines. Oregairu might be the most different of all the anime I have listed over here and might have more other elements than romance.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo is a romance/ slice of life anime. Sakurasou again like many others are centered around high school kids and how the fall in love. What it does differently, is the way it handles everything. I won’t spoil much as watching this one is a real treat.

Ookami to Koushinryou

Ookami to Koushinryou is based around a wolf deity and merchant and their uncanny love story. Backed by amazing OST, and very strong lead characters this anime is a must watch.

Itazura na Kiss

Itazura na Kiss is a full on shoujo romance anime. It has the basic plot of a girl falling in love with a guy, the guy, in turn, does not give a shit about the girl. Circumstances bring them closer and then he realizes that he loves her too, and there is the happy ending. What Itazura does better is the way it actually depicts each scene. So, if you like shoujo romances, definitely give this a go.

Special: Kaichou wa Maid-sama

Kaichou wa Maid-sama is an anime that lives through its characters. The banter between the leads is often funny with one teasing the other and the other getting all flustered.

The reason I added this in the special is because, it leaves the anime in the middle and the real ending is carried on in the manga as the anime never got a sequel. But, nevertheless, the anime does leave off with a decent ending that many would be satisfied with.

Conclusion

This concludes the Romance Edition of my ongoing BGA series. Thanks for reading, and please do comment on how you would like the series to improve.
